MAGLOIRE CONSIDERS SUITING UP FOR CANADA

Last Updated: November 24, 2009

TORONTO - Toronto native Jamaal Magloire might be playing for Canada at the World Championship in Turkey next summer, according to media reports.

Magloire, who plays for the Miami Heat, is "strongly considering" the move, he told the Miami Herald.

Magloire, 31, played with Canada's Junior Men's National Team years ago.

Heat reserve Joel Anthony, the starting centre for Canada's Senior Men's National Team, has been recruiting Magloire to play.

Magloire also met with national team coach Leo Rautins on Thursday at Canada Basketball's launch of the 'CB Classic Collection' T-shirts, the Herald reports.

"Representing my country is an honour and a privilege and it's something I've entertained," Magloire told the Toronto Sun Friday night at the Air Canada Centre where the Heat lost 120-113 to the Toronto Raptors.

"I'm looking forward to more dialogue with Canada Basketball."

Rautins said he'd be thrilled to have Magloire on the floor in Turkey.

"If we get him, he makes us significantly bigger, stronger and tougher," Rautins told the Sun. "I'd love to have him. But it's a no- pressure situation for him."
