"In 1985, I had the unique opportunity to give a basketball clinic on the topic of defence to the participants at the Men's National Team Training Camp in Ottawa. This was my first opportunity to work with elite players at the National Level. In the accompanying photo, one can see the young face of Jay Triano, one of Canada's top scorers at the time and presently the Head Coach of our Olympic Team. This is where I met the then Senior Men's Team National Team Coach - Jack Donohue.

I discovered later that he would invite those high school coaches who possessed the same passion that he had towards the game to participate in these training camps. Up until then, I had coached men for 3 years at Holy Names where we won the City Championship (1977). Afterwards, two years at Champlain Cegep in St. Lambert where we won a Provincial Championship (1981), All total I had been coaching men for 9 years.

In 1986, Jack Donohue made history by appointing me as the team's apprentice coach (the first woman to work with a men's team at the international level).

Thank you to the late Coach Donohue and Canada Basketball for this incredible opportunity and experience. My coaching skills were enhanced and my career benefitted from all these learning experiences. I had worked with the best players in the country as well as gained international understanding of the game."
