Canada Placed In Pool A For Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games

TORONTO, ON (August 6, 2017) - The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC), in conjunction with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) announced Sunday that Canada has been placed in Pool A for next year's Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018).

The 16 nations for the men's and women's competitions have be split into two pools of four which will compete against each other during the preliminary rounds to be held in Townsville and Cairns between April 5-10, 2018. The finals will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 13-15, 2018.

The GC2018 Basketball competition will feature the following eight teams in both men's and women's competitions:

POOLS FOR PRELIMINARY MATCHES IN CAIRNS (CAIRNS CONVENTION CENTRE)

POOLS FOR PRELIMINARY MATCHES IN TOWNSVILLE (TOWNSVILLE ENTERTAINMENT AND CONVENTION CENTRE)

Team Canada will make its Commonwealth Games Basketball debut during the Games after the men's and women's teams did not feature at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Remaining tickets to the Basketball preliminaries in Townsville and Cairns can be purchased on a first-come, first served basis via gc2018.com/tickets.
