LINES OF THE WEEK: CANADIANS IN THE NCAA
Canadians continue to show that we can ball with the best in the third week of CB's 90th year.
Wumi Agunbiade (Pickering, ON) – Duquesne, Jr.
Agunbiade led her Dukes to a 65-45 victory over Temple by scoring an efficient 23 points on 71% shooting and rounded out her big game with eight rebounds and two steals.
Murphy Burnatowski (Waterloo, ON) – Colgate, Sr.
With 17 seconds remaining in an overtime thriller, Burnatowski's three-pointer (his fifth of the contest) put the game on ice as his Raiders took a 93-90 win over Army. He finished with 35 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Natalie Achonwa (Guelph, ON) – Notre Dame, Jr.
Achonwa's 16-point, 12-rebound double-double lifted her Fighting Irish to a 74-50 win over the St. John's Red Storm. She played just 23 minutes and added two blocks for good measure.
Matthew Wright (Toronto, ON) – St. Bonaventure, Jr.
Wright's career-high 22 points came on 8/11 shooting including a perfect 4/4 from downtown and pushed his Bonnies to their first road win over Temple in 31 tries. The sharp-shooting junior added three rebounds and three assists.
Katherine Plouffe (Edmonton, AB) – Marquette, Jr.
Though her Golden Eagles came up just short in a 64-63 loss to Louisville on Tuesday, Plouffe registered 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the tightly contested affair.
Kelly Olynyk (Kamloops, B.C.) – Gonzaga, Jr.
Just when you thought he'd achieved perfection with an 8/9 shooting performance that earned him this slot last week, Olynyk shot a perfect 9/9 from the floor and 8/8 from the free throw line with nine rebounds en route to a game-high 26 points in a 83-63 win over BYU.
