The game of basketball has taken Mike MacKay across most of the planet.

While his passion and career is more complicated than that, it is safe to say the Dartmouth native and former CEC coach makes his living pushing to get best results.

In fact, the 56-year-old who now calls Toronto home, has helped rewrite the book when it comes to training basketball coaches in Canada.

"I finally complained so much about the curriculum that Canada Basketball asked me to do something about it in 2003. That was when I first started to work here," MacKay said.

These days he receives a paycheque from Basketball Canada as performance manager for the women's high performance program.

MacKay, a longtime educator who has been involved in coaching for some four decades, was initially given a contract with the national group to revamp the old National Coaching Certification Program.
