For one night only, the Queens of the Court ruled the Nike Crown League.

A packed house at Kerr Hall on the campus of Ryerson helped give a special Rio 2016 send-off to the Canadian women's basketball team during a pre-game ceremony in Toronto on Friday night.

Iconic T-Dot rapper Kardinal Offishall emceed the occasion, while the 416 Beats Drumline marched Team Canada onto the hardwood and a quartet of young ballers proudly displayed a giant Canadian flag.

The 12 players who will represent Canada in Rio linked arm in arm during a stirring rendition of the national anthem. Team Canada was also presented with a commemorative ball by Crown League.

Crown League 2016 features six teams of players from the GTA. Visit http://exp.nike.com/ca/en_gb/e/crownleague2016 for further information.

Team Canada is making its second consecutive trip to the Olympics, and plays its first game in Rio against China on August 6.
