New York, N.Y. - The Canadian Women's Olympic Team wrapped up the USA Basketball Showcase on a winning note Sunday.

Making their final stop on the Road to Rio, the Canadians, ranked No. 9 by FIBA, defeated No. 4 France 71-63 at Madison Square Garden.

Canada's starters included Miah-Marie Langlois, Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe, Kim Gaucher, Tamara Tatham and Miranda Ayim. Click here for full team roster.

Team Canada now heads to Rio to get ready for the 2016 Summer Games, where it will open play in Group B against China on Saturday at 1.15 p.m. EST.

Langlois led a balanced Canadian attack, notching 13 points on 6/10 shooting from the field, while handing out four assists. Ayim had 11 points and Kia Nurse added nine for Canada, which outscored France in each of the last three quarters. French guard Sarah Michel was the game's top scorer with 16 points. "I was happy with how our team responded with our level of physicality and communication at defensive end,” says Lisa Thomaidis, Team Canada head coach. “We have a healthy rivalry with France and had to battle until the very end.”

The opening quarter featured wild swings of momentum. France grabbed a 10-2 lead before the game was two minutes old, but Canada later reeled off a 10-2 run to go ahead 18-16. France took the lead back, 22-18, to end the first period.

Canada ratcheted up its defence during the second quarter, holding France to just nine points while scoring 15 to go in front 33-31 at halftime. Raincock-Ekunwe was Canada's catalyst, scoring eight points in a span of less than five minutes late in the quarter.

Much like France in the first, Canada stormed out of the gate in the second half, beginning the third quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 43-31 advantage midway through the frame. France battled back and trimmed Canada's lead to five, 52-47, with 10 minutes remaining.

The Canadians built their lead to 64-51 late in the fourth quarter, but France reeled off a 12-2 surge that made the score 66-63 in favour of Canada with 25.2 seconds left. From there, Nurse took over, calmly sinking four consecutive free-throws to secure a Canadian win.
