"We had a great start, but got a little bit complacent and rushed offensively. Mexico competed hard, they took us away from our offence in the first half. In the second half we executed much better. We played more physical. The goal is to medal and win.  We hope to get better every single game and put ourselves in a position to do that.  Valdivia has been great. People are very welcoming. We've been exposed to Great culture, great food.  We are  having a good time."

Brown led the Canadian side with 12 points and 12 rebounds and 4 assists while Masikewich finished with 13 rebounds. Canada's defense was impressive, holding Mexico to 10% from the 3-point line.

Building on a strong finish to the first quarter, Canada kept that momentum on both ends of the court to take the lead 37-31 at halftime.

Canada came out with great energy in the third quarter and increased their lead to 63-43 a 20-point difference going into the last quarter.

Canada continued to build on the lead they had created due to great defensive plays and smart basketball. As a result, the score was 87-56 for Canada at the final buzzer. For game boxscore click here.
