Canada Basketball Internship (Co-op) Opportunities

Canada Basketball is now accepting applications from students enrolled in a Co-op program from a recognized Canadian University/College.  Seven internships are available in our marketing, domestic development, coaching, high performance and finance departments.  Please state in your cover letter that you fit this criterion and which internship you are applying for.

Length and Term: The eight positions will run from May to August, 2017 (4 month term).

These are non-paid positions.  Salaried positions may be available, dependent upon government funding.

Position: Basketball Scientist/IST Manager(Full-time)
(Women’s Basketball)

The purpose of this role is to provide world-class support to Canada Basketball in the area of Strength and Conditioning and Physiology to facilitate overall performance enhancement. The primary role of the Basketball Scientist/IST Manager is to support identified Canada Basketball women’s national team programs and athletes, while helping to continuously expand and further develop this service area at the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO). Duties include working closely with coaching and technical staff to focus on all areas of strength and conditioning and physiology including flexibility, strength, endurance, hypertrophy, power and speed, energy systems, and periodization. The position supports athletes, coaches and technical leaders by providing tools and metrics to monitor and assess progress and will include additional responsibilities to manage the Integrated Support Team (IST), in order to achieve a holistic and integrated approach to athlete development in both centralized and decentralized context of the sport.

Position: U16/U17 Men's Head Coach

Reporting to the Executive VP/Assistant GM – Men’s National Team, the head coach works in close cooperation with the Canada Basketball’s senior, development and junior national team head coaches and other members of the Canada Basketball national office. They are also responsible for the coaching functions associated with the U16/17 men’s national team program. Ensuring alignment of the U16/17 team program with the philosophy and direction of senior and development national team programs, to promote continuity within the Canadian men’s high performance program and with the goal to develop excellent athletes for senior national team program.
