Bell-Haynes, Ejim Named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (March 20, 2024) - Trae Bell-Haynes and Yvonne Ejim have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for March 18-22.

Currently playing overseas in Spain for Casademont Zaragoza, Trae Bell-Haynes had a big week. He scored 31 points in a FIBA Europe Cup game and followed it up with 16 points, three rebounds, and seven assists in an ACB (Spanish Basketball League) win over Palencia. Bell-Haynes last helped the Canadian Senior Men’s National Team (SMNT) go 2-0 in the opening window of FIBA Men's AmeriCup 2025 Qualifiers.

Although the Gonzaga Bulldogs lost their last game of the regular season in a tight one-point loss to Portland in the West Coast Conference (WCC) Tournament, the Bulldogs punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, landing themselves a 4-seed on Selection Sunday. Yvonne Ejim, who was named both the WCC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, capped off her impressive season with a 17-point and 11 rebounds performance. The Canadian earned All-American Honours as the leader of her team heading into March Madness. Ejim last joined the Senior Women’s National Team (SWNT) in Sopron, Hungary, to help them qualify for Paris 2024.
