(TORONTO, ON) – Le personnel de la haute performance de Canada Basketball a le plaisir d'annoncer les noms des 19 athlètes qui ont été invités au camp d'entraînement de l'équipe nationale masculine U19 (ÉNMJ) qui aura lieu au Campus nord du Collège Humber du 6 au 10 juin en préparation du championnat mondial U19 de la FIBA se disputant à Héraklion en Grèce.

"Nous nous attendons à un camp extrêmement compétitif" selon Roy Rana, entraîneur-chef de l'ÉNMJ U19 2015. "Nous avons un solide groupe d'athlètes et avons hâte à cette préparation au championnat mondial U19."

Roy Rana (Université Ryerson) en est à sa quatrième saison consécutive à la tête de l'équipe nationale U18 / U19. Il sera accompagné des adjoints Jamie McNeilly (Virginia Tech), Kirby Schepp (Université du Manitoba) et Steve Morrison (Red Claws du Maine). De plus, Steve Kochalski (Université St. Francis Xavier) agira à titre de mentor du groupe d'entraîneurs.

La pratique du 10 juin sera accessible aux médias à compter de 11h30 et à 17h30 pour un match simulé contre l'Université Ryerson. Les entraîneurs et athlètes seront accessibles pour des entrevues impromptues (scrums). Les médias peuvent communiquer au communications@basketball.ca afin de confirmer leur présence.

À la suite du camp d'entraînement, l'équipe se rendra en Europe pour poursuivre son entraînement et jouer des matchs hors-concours avant le championnat mondial. En 2014, l'ÉNMJ avait terminé au 2e rang du championnat de la FIBA Americas et est présentement classée 3e chez les groupes d'âges masculins de la FIBA.
