TORONTO, ON (4 juin 2016) – Canada Basketball a le plaisir d’annoncer que 22 athlètes sont invités aux camps d’essais et d’entraînement de l’équipe nationale masculine U17 (ÉNMC) du 4 au 10 juin au Campus Nord du Collège Humber à Toronto à Toronto, ON.

« Nous sommes excités de réunir ce groupe. L’été dernier, nous avons connu nos meilleurs résultats à vie pour ce groupe d’âge et nous avons hâte de noter leur développement et de représenter le Canada sur la scène internationale » dit l’entraîneur-chef Dave DeAveiro.

DeAveiro (Université McGill) sera accompagné des adjoints Michael Meeks (Canada Basketball), Jame Derouin (Université d’Ottawa) et de l’entraîneur-stagiaire Nicky Davis (Collège Sheridan).

À la suite du camp d’entraînement, l’alignement définitif se dirigera vers la France pour un tournoi hors-concours avant de se rendre à Zaragoza, Espagne, pour y représenter le Canada au championnat mondial 2016 des U17 de la FIBA du 23 juin au 3 juillet.

En 2016, l’équipe U17 a remporté la médaille d’argent – son meilleur résultat à vie au championnat U16 de la FIBA Amériques. Le Canada est présentement classé au 3e rang du classement des jeunes hommes de la FIBA.
