LES MEILLEURES JEUNES ATHLÈTES QUI SERONT CONSIDÉRÉES POUR LES ÉQUIPES 2016 DES GROUPES D’ÂGES

TORONTO, ON (15 mars 2016) – Quarante-deux athlètes (25 cadettes et 17 juniors) de tous les coins du pays ont été invitées à participer au camp d’évaluation des groupes d’âges féminins qui aura lieu au Collège Humber du 24 au 29 mars 2016.

« 2015 a été une excellente année pour notre programme de haute performance féminine. Nous désirons constater les progrès accomplis par ces jeunes athlètes identifiées au niveau national et les façons dont nos entraîneurs peuvent continuer à les guider dans leurs plans de développement individuel » nous dit Denise Dignard, directrice de la haute performance féminine. « Nous sommes engagés dans le développement à long terme des athlètes ainsi que les entraîneurs et personnel technique partout au pays de sorte que nous possédions un afflux constant d’athlètes pour notre programme de l’équipe nationale senior. »

Le camp offre un environnement d’entraînement national à insistance internationale pour nos meilleures athlètes identifiées nées en 1998 et plus tard. Les entraîneurs des équipes nationales et le personnel technique identifieront les athlètes qui seront invitées à la prochaine activité des équipes de groupes d’âges 2016.

L’équipe des cadettes a écrit une page d’histoire en remportant la médaille d’or au championnat féminin des U16 de la FIBA Amériques. Cet été, les athlètes nées en 1999 ou plus tard participeront au championnat mondial 2016 des U17 de la FIBA à Zaragoza, Espagne, du 22 juin au 3 juillet.

L’équipe national féminine junior a terminé au 8e rang du championnat mondial U19 2015 de la FIBA. Au cours du prochain été, les athlètes nées en 1998 ou plus tard se rendront au championnat féminin 2016 des U18 de la FIBA Amériques à Valdivia au Chili du 13 au 17 juillet.

Le Canada est présentement classé au 4e rang mondial de la FIBA pour les équipes de jeunes filles.
