TORONTO, ON (July 26, 2017) – It's been 50 years since the first Canada Games, held in Quebec City in 1967. Since then, the Games have alternated every two years between winter and summer and grown to become Canada’s largest multi-sport competition for young athletes.

The Canada Summer Games are a key step in the development of Canada’s next national, international and Olympic basketball stars. From Nate Darling to Katherine Plouffe to Philip Scrubb, this national under-17 competition has served as a stepping stone for number of athletes who have represented Canada on the international stage throughout the years.

The upcoming Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, MB will feature eleven athletes who have represented Canada in international competition this summer alone. With the way basketball is trending in Canada, look for the country’s next up-and-coming basketball stars to make their mark in Winnipeg.

Nineteen different sports will be on display over the two-week duration of the Games, with basketball running from Saturday, July 29 until Friday, August 4. Click here for the full sport schedule.
