TORONTO, Ont. (le 18 octobre 2023) - Conor Morgan et Emily Potter ont été nommés Joueurs Toyota Canada de la semaine du 9 au 15 octobre.

Morgan a dominé cette semaine avec les Lions de Londres (Angleterre), puisqu’il a aidé son équipe à remporter deux victoires de suite grâce à deux performances de 17 points. L’ancien joueur d’UBC a attrapé 8,5 rebonds par match dans les victoires respectives de son équipe face au Phoenix de Cheshire et aux Towers de Hamburg, tout en tirant à 55,6 pour cent derrière la ligne des lancers francs. Le joueur originaire de Victoria en Colombie-Britanique a représenté le Canada pour la dernière fois lors de la cinquième fenêtre des éliminatoires de la Coupe du monde masculine de basketball FIBA 2023, aidant ainsi l’équipe nationale senior masculine à se qualifier pour la Coupe du monde grâce à un bilan de 11-1, soit le meilleur bilan parmi les équipes des Amériques.

Pour sa première saison avec le Lynx de Perth, Potter a très bien débuté. L’ancienne joueuse d’Utah qui est originaire de Winnipeg a aidé son équipe à afficher un bilan de 3-0 au River City Rebound, un tournoi de pré-saison qui se tient à Brisbane avant la saison 2023-24 de la WNBL. La performance de 20 points de Potter à 7 en 12 aux tirs a aidé le Lynx à battre le champion en titre de la WNBL, le Fire de Townsville, par la marque de 86 à 80. Potter a enregistré une moyenne de 13 points et 5,7 rebonds par match dans le tournoi. Elle a représenté le Canada pour la dernière fois l’été dernier à l’occasion de l’AmeriCup féminin FIBA 2023 au Mexique, et a aidé l’équipe nationale senior féminine à remporter la médaille de bronze et à se qualifier pour le tournoi féminin FIBA de pré-qualification olympique.
