NEW YORK, N.Y., ET MIES, SUISSE, le 12 Février 2019 – La National Basketball Association (NBA) et la Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball Amateur (FIBA) ont annoncé aujourd’hui le nom des 63 meilleurs garçons et meilleures filles venant de 31 pays et régions qui prendront l’avion pour Charlotte à l’occasion du 5ème camp international annuel de basket-ball « Basketball Without Borders » (BWB). Le camp aura lieu entre le vendredi 15 février et le dimanche 17 février au Centre Levine pour le bien-être et le loisir de la Queens University à Charlotte, faisant partie intégrante du programme NBA All-Star 2019, et NIKE en sera le partenaire officiel.

Les all-Stars NBA 2019 Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets; Serbie) et Nikola Vucevic (Orlando Magic; Monténégro), le choix No. 1 de la draft 2018 et ancien participant au camp BWB Deandre Ayton (Phoenix Suns; Bahamas; BWB International 2016), et Bogdan Bogdanovic (Sacramento Kings; Serbie), sélectionné pour faire partie de la deuxième équipe Rookie de la saison 2017-18, entraîneront les participants de 15-18 ans d’Afrique, des Amériques, d’Asie et d’Europe.

Jokic, Vucevic, Ayton et Bogdanovic seront rejoints par le vétéran NBA Festus Ezeli (Nigéria), les anciens joueurs NBA Adonal Foyle (St. Vincent et Grenadines) ainsi que Michael Ray Richardson (Etats-Unis), le membre du Temple de la Renommée du Basket-ball féminin Jennifer Azzi (Etats-Unis), les anciennes joueuses WNBA Allison Feaster (Etats-Unis), Ashley Battle (Etats-Unis), Taj McWilliams-Franklin (Etats-Unis), Astou N’Diaye (Sénégal) et Andrea Stinson (Etats-Unis), ainsi que d’autres joueurs participant aux NBA All-Star 2019. Les assistants coachs des Charlotte Hornets Dutch Gaitley (Etats-Unis), Nate Mitchell (Canada) et Ronald Nored (Etats-Unis), ainsi que l’assistant coach des 76ers John Bryant (Etats-Unis) et l’assistant coach des Los Angeles Lakers Mark Madsen (Etats-Unis) joueront également le rôle d’entraîneur au camp BWB International.

Parmi le nombre record de 27 anciens participants au camp Basketball Without Borders présents dans la composition d’équipe lors de la soirée d’ouverture de la saison NBA 2018-19 (actifs et inactifs), neuf ont participé au camp International BWB, notamment Ayton, le membre de la première équipe Rookie lors de la saison 2017-18 Lauri Markkanen (Chicago Bulls; Finlande; BWB Europe 2014; BWB International 2015), et le choix No. 7 de la draft 2016 Jamal Murray (Nuggets; Canada; BWB International 2015).

Patrick Hunt (Président de l’Association Mondiale des Entraîneurs de Basket-ball; Australie), Gersson Rosas (Houston Rockets; Colombie), Marin Sedlacek (76ers; Serbie) et Masai Ujiri (Toronto Raptors; Nigéria) seront les directeurs du camp. Le préparateur physique des Hornets Adam Linens s’occupera des exercices de préparation physique pendant toute la durée du camp.

Les joueurs et les entraîneurs accompagneront les participants au camp à travers des activités variées sur et en dehors du terrain, avec notamment l’efficacité de déplacement, des ateliers de développement de compétences, des concours de tirs et de compétences, des matches en 5 contre 5 ainsi que des séminaires de compétence de la vie quotidienne se focalisant sur la santé, le leadership et la communication. Un garçon et une fille seront nommés MVPs du camp international BWB à la fin des trois jours de camp.

Le camp accueillera 10 participants actuels d’Académies NBA, le réseau de centres d’entraînements du basket-ball élite de la ligue autour du monde pour les meilleures joueuses et les meilleurs joueurs habitant en dehors des Etats-Unis et cinq participantes qui ont fait partie du Programme Féminin des Académies NBA, une série de camps de développement de basket-ball destinés aux meilleures joueuses vivant en dehors des Etats-Unis et étant inscrites à l’une des académies de la ligue.  Depuis Octobre 2016, des Académies ont été créées à Canberra en Australie; à Jinan, Urumqi et Zhuji en Chine; à Mexico au Mexique; au Territoire de la Capitale Nationale de Delhi (TCN), en Inde; et à Saly au Sénégal. Dix participants d’Académies NBA ont par la suite intégré des universités de Division 1 de la NCAA.

Le camp sera arbitré par des représentants du Programme de Développement de l’Arbitrage de la NBA, qui forme des professionnels prometteurs et d’anciens joueurs dans l’acquisition de nouvelles compétences pour poursuivre une carrière d’arbitre en NBA, WNBA et NBA G League.

Les participants au camp iront au MTN DEW ICE Rising Stars, State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, et au 68ème NBA All-Star Game au Spectrum Center.

NIKE, un des partenaires internationaux du camp BWB depuis 2002, habillera les participants et les entraîneurs avec des vêtements et chaussures NIKE.

BWB, le programme international de développement du basket-ball et d’impact sur la communauté dirigé par la NBA et la FIBA, a accueilli plus de 3 300 participants venant de 129 pays et territoires depuis 2001, dont plus de 55 anciens participants ont été draftés en NBA ou signés en tant qu’agents libres. La NBA et la FIBA ont organisées 56 camps BWB dans 35 villes à travers 28 pays sur six continents. Plus de 290 anciens et actuels joueurs/joueuses NBA, WNBA et FIBA ont rejoint plus de 225 membres du staff des 30 équipes NBA pour soutenir BWB à travers le monde.
