Aaron Doornekamp and Sami Hill have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for the week of April 25th-May 1.
In her first two games with Panteras, Sami averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1 steal per game. Before beginning her professional career in Europe, the 5'10" Toronto, ON native played at Virgina Tech (NCAA) where she was named to the All-ACC Academic team in her senior year. Hill has represented Team Canada for over 9 years, recently competing with the Senior Women's National Team at the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in 2020, helping the team secure a third consecutive Olympic appearance, and finishing 4th at the 2021 FIBA Women's AmeriCup.
It was a big week from Aaron Doorenkamp helping lead Lenovo Tenerife (Spain) to a win over BAXI Manresa in the Spanish ACB, scoring 17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals while shooting 6-9 from 3PT (incl. 5-7 from 3PT). The 6’6” small forward played for Carleton University (U SPORTS), Doornekamp was named CIS Men's Basketball Player of the Year and the OUA Male Athlete of the Year in 2008. Doornekamp went on to play professionally in Europe and has represented Team Canada at various international tournaments, most notably helping Canada bring home the silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games and the bronze at the 2015 FIBA Americas.
