Abu Kigab and Sarah Te-Biasu have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for the week from January 31-February 6.
In Virginia Commonwealth University's (NCAA) two wins last week, Montreal, QC native Te-Biasu averaged 14 points, 5.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. In her rookie year last year with VCU, Te-Biasu was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Rookie Team selection and the Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team. She led her team in minutes played and 3-point percentage, averaging 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last season. The 5’3” point guard was a member of the Canadian National Teams who competed at the 2017 U16 FIBA Americas, the 2018 U17 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup and the 2019 U19 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Kigab averaged 22 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals in two games for Boise State (NCAA), shooting 58% from the field and averaging 9 FTA per game. From St. Catherines, ON, Kigab began his University career with Oregon State before transferring to Boise State where he is now in his senior year. The 6’6” guard represented Canada at the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Championship and is most notably a member of the gold medal winning 2017 FIBA U19 World Cup team in Cairo, Egypt, where he was also named to the World Cup All-Star team after averaging 14.7 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
