TORONTO (Dec. 10, 2024) – AJ Lawson and Toby Fournier have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for December 2-8.
This past week the Duke Blue Devils faced off against Virginia Tech, securing a victory with a score of 81-59. Fournier delivered an impressive ACC debut scoring 27 points, along with nine rebounds, all while shooting an impressive 70.6% from field-goal range. The freshman hailing from Toronto last suited up for Canada during the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2023 where Canada captured bronze.
Meanwhile, Lawson, a key player for the Long Island Nets in the NBA G League has had a dominant past three games. The Brampton-native averaged 30.0 points and seven rebounds, while shooting 45% from beyond the arc at a rate of 10 three-point attempts per game. Lawson last played for Canada at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers against the Bahamas in 2021.
