Andrew Nicholson and Sami Hill are named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for October 4-10.
Nicholson tipped-off the Korean pro season on a high note leading the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus (KBL) to two twins while averaging 31 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist and shooting 61% from the field over the past week. The power forward out of St. Bonaventure University (NCAA) was drafted 19th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. Nicholson played 6 seasons in the NBA before playing in the Chinese Basketball Association for the last 3 seasons. The Mississauga native has played a total of 32 games with Team Canada, most recently competing at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament this past summer with the Senior Men's National Team.
In EIGNER Nordlingen’s 73-78 loss to Osnabruck, Hill led her team with 20 points, while also adding 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals to begin the German season. Before beginning her professional career in Europe, the 5'10" Toronto, ON native played at Virgina Tech (NCAA) where she was named to the All-ACC Academic team in her senior year. Hill has represented for Team Canada for 9 years, recently competing with the Senior Women's National Team at the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in 2020, helping the team secure a third consecutive Olympic appearance, and finishing 4th at the 2021 FIBA Women's AmeriCup.
