Andrew Wiggins and T’yana Todd are our Canada Basketball Toyota Canada Players of the Week for June 13 - June 19.
Wiggins played a key role on for the Golden State Warriors this past week in the NBA Finals, particularly in games five and six where he averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks, enroute to capturing an NBA championship title – the first in Wiggins career. Also, a first in his NBA career, Wiggins was not only named an NBA All-Star earlier this season but was also voted to the All-Star starting lineup by way of fans, current players, and media member votes. The Vaughan, ON native has represented Canada several times, most recently last summer at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2020 in Victoria, BC.
Representing Canada at the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2022, Todd was named to the Tournament All-Star 5 team after helping Canada finish second overall, capturing a silver medal at the event. Todd led the tournament in scoring, dropping 15.2 points per game, making the second most three-point field goals, shooting a blistering 45.7% from behind the arc. A 6’0 guard from Toronto, Ont., T’yana was a 2022 McDonald’s All-American game nominee, and was selected to participate at the 2022 BioSteel All-Canadian Game. After competing for IMG Academy in Florida, T’yana recently committed to the Boston College Eagles.
