TORONTO (July 19, 2025) – Canada Basketball announced today the men’s and women’s rosters set to compete at the FIBA U23 3x3 Nations League 2025 – Americas 2 in Punta Arenas, Chile from July 21–27.
The Americas conference will feature six three-game tournaments in seven days, including daily pool play and a final. Teams earn tour standing points after each one-day event. The best-ranked team in the standings after the sixth day will be declared winners of their conference and qualify for the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup 2025 taking place September 17–21 in Xiong An, China.
Representing Canada on the women’s roster are Rebecca Demeke (Toronto, Ont.), Marah Dykstra (Vancouver, B.C.), Alphonsia Eleko (Montreal, Que.), Gage Grassick (Prince Albert, SK), Emma Koabel (Port Colborne, Ont.), and Mackenzie Smith (Shelburne, N.S.). The team will be led by Head Coach Dianna Ros.
The roster blends players from coast-to-coast-to-coast, several of whom bring experience from both the 5-on-5 and 3x3 circuits. Koabel and Dykstra bring international experience from previous age-group national team competitions, while Smith has established herself as a rising star out east with a versatile skillset built for the 3x3 format. Demeke, Eleko and Grassick round out the squad with versatility and a strong physical presence on both ends of the floor.
Meanwhile, the men’s roster will be represented by Ethan Boag (Victoria, B.C.), Tate Christiansen (Vancouver, B.C.), Owen Kenney (Barrie, Ont.), Mason Kraus (Winnipeg, Man.), Yohann Sam (Brampton, Ont.), and Shadynn Smid (Duncan, B.C.). The team will be led by Head Coach Daniel Ferguson.
Sam returns to international duty after competing at the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League 2023 Americas in Chile. Boag and Smid are teammates at the University of Victoria and bring chemistry and toughness from one of British Columbia’s top collegiate programs. Christiansen, also based in B.C., adds length and shooting to the lineup, while Kraus and Kenney round out the group with versatile skillsets.
The FIBA 3x3 Youth Nations League 2025 will stream live on YouTube each day on the FIBA 3x3 YouTube Channel.
