TORONTO (May 13, 2023) – Canada Basketball President & CEO Michael Bartlett has been selected to the FIBA Americas Zone Board for the 2023-2027 term of office.
The appointment came during the Zone Assembly of FIBA in the Americas this weekend in Miami.
“Being selected to the FIBA Americas Board is an honour, and I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues across the zone over the next several years to continue growing and developing the game of basketball, both here at home and within the Americas,” said Bartlett.
Bartlett became Canada Basketball President & CEO in October 2021 and has been instrumental in the organization’s growth, both on and off the court.
Under Bartlett’s leadership, Canada Basketball has seen record-high revenues following a strategic focus on growing the business of basketball in Canada, including the launch of GLOBL JAM and new commercial partnerships with several leading Canadian brands. The organization has also reaffirmed its commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion through UNIFIED 2024 to ensure the game is played in a safe and positive environment.
Joining Bartlett on the Zone Board for the 2023-2027 term of office are Jim Tooley, Kim Bohuny, Andrea Travelstead (North America), Patrick Haynes, Sabrina Mitchell, Rafael Uribe, Modesto Robledo (Central America and Caribbean), Ricardo Vairo, Marcelo Souza, Iran Arcos, Hanthony Coello (South America) and Yum Ramos (member at-large).
Fabián Borro, President of the Argentine Basketball Federation since 2019, was elected as the new President of the Zone and Usie Richards was re-elected as Treasurer. Borro also becomes a member of the FIBA Central Board for the 2023-2027 term of office.
