Canada Basketball Unveils the ‘Summer of Basketball’

TORONTO (August 1, 2025) — Canada Basketball is proud to launch its Summer of Basketball, a celebration of Canadian basketball talent, community, and excellence that will unfold over the first three weeks of August.

From the country’s most elite basketball athletes, to culture of basketball community celebrations, and top-tier coach education events— the celebration will build up to GLOBL JAM, Canada Basketball’s international U23 basketball tournament. Throughout the three-week span, fans and participants alike will experience the energy, growth and love of the game like never before.

“Canada Basketball is thrilled to offer a full slate of events that highlight every facet of our game — from developing the next generation of players and coaches to showcasing top talent on the world stage,” said Michael Bartlett, President & CEO of Canada Basketball. “This truly is the ‘Summer of Basketball,’ and we invite all Canadians to come out and celebrate with us.”

Canada Basketball 15U National Championships | August 4-9

In partnership with Ontario Basketball, Canada’s top male and female youth talent will take centre stage at Canada Basketball’s 15U National Championships, running August 4-9 at Ontario Tech University/Durham College. Provincial and territorial teams will compete for national glory, fostering the future stars of the sport in a dynamic, high-stakes environment. Last year, team Ontario took home both men’s and women’s top honours and will defend their titles on home soil.

Daily passes are $10 to attend for students and $15 for adults.

Sun Life Canada Hoops 3x3 | U23 National Championship | August 9-10

Sun Life Financial and Canada Basketball will host Sun Life Canada Hoops, an electrifying and family-friendly U23 men’s and women’s national 3x3 tournament. Held at Toronto’s The Bentway, this two-day event taking place on August 9 and 10 will bring together the nation’s best 3x3 teams for a fast-paced, high-skill showdown under the Gardiner Expressway. Teams will have the opportunity to compete for their provinces and territories and put their Canadian pride on the court.  

Participating teams include: Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec and Saskatchewan.

As the Official Health and Wellness partner of Canada Basketball, Sun Life Canada Hoops is the latest in a multi-year partnership between Sun Life Financial and Canada Basketball which empowers Canadians to focus on healthy active living through the power of sport.

GLOBL JAM Session, Presented by Cetaphil and Universal Music Canada | August 10

Canada Basketball, Cetaphil and Universal Music Canada (UMC) are proud to launch GLOBL JAM tournament week with the GLOBL JAM Session—a private concert experience presented by Cetaphil, taking place at Universal Music Canada’s performance space The Academy.

This exclusive event will bring together next-up artists and athletes for a night where music, sport, and skincare collide. Headlined by rising talents Chxrry and Preston Pablo, the concert will spotlight the sound of the next generation while setting the tone for an unforgettable week of next gen basketball and celebration.

GLOBL JAM | August 13-17

The international stage returns to Toronto at GLOBL JAM, Canada Basketball’s premier U23, 5-on-5 basketball showcase featuring rising stars from around the world. From August 13-17 at Mattamy Athletic Centre, fans can experience the next generation of NBA and WNBA stars compete live.

In addition to Canada, participating teams include:

Men’s bracket: USA represented by Georgetown Hoyas Men’s Basketball, Brazil, and Japan.
Women’s bracket: USA represented by University of Texas Longhorns, Brazil and Puerto Rico.

This year’s GLOBL JAM is made possible in part through the generous support of the Government ofOntario. Their continued investment in major sporting events helps drive tourism, boost local economies, and create opportunities for young athletes to shine on the international stage.

Canada Basketball SuperClinic | August 15

To cap off the summer, Canada Basketball will bring together coaches and officials from grassroots to high-performance levels at its annual Super Clinic, supported by Fox 40, NBA Canada, and Nike. This in-person event will deliver Speaker Sessions presented by Fox 40, featuring National and international coaches with headlines such as Nell Fortner, David Blatt, Carly Clarke and Dave Smart.

The event will feature some of the top minds in the sport, covering essential topics from the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and creating invaluable networking opportunities within the Canadian basketball community.
