ULAANBAATAR, MONGOLIA — Canada’s 3x3 Women’s National Team is headed to the semi-finals at the 2025 FIBA 3x3 World Cup after edging out a physical 11-10 victory over longtime rival Spain early morning Saturday.
In a defensive, back-and-forth battle, it was Cassandra Brown who sealed the win for Canada, laying up the game-winning one-point shot with just five seconds left on the clock. The clutch finish came in a rematch of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 semi-final, where Spain had eliminated Canada in heartbreaking fashion.
This time, it was Canada who had the final word.
Saicha Grant-Allen led the scoring effort with 6 points and 5 rebounds, anchoring the team on both ends in a low-scoring, hard-fought contest.
Canada will now face the Netherlands in the semi-finals on Sunday, June 29 at 5:00 AM ET / 2:00 AM PT, live on CBC Sports and YouTube, as they continue their quest for a World Cup podium finish.
