Canada’s 3x3 Women’s National Team fell 21-13 to the USA in the semifinals of the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Quebec Series Stop on Sunday.

Canada’s quest to capture a series stop tournament win on home soil came to an end after the team went undefeated in Day 1 action on Saturday. Canada was represented by Cassandra Brown, Kacie Bosch, Paige Crozon and Mackenzie Smith at the stop while Katherine and Michelle Plouffe had this stop off.

Sydney Leah Taylor led the USA with nine points and six rebounds as the Americans outrebounded Canada 20-10 in the victory. Canada was led by a seven-point performance from Crozon and five points from Smith in the loss.

After a slow start by both teams, a two-pointer from Smith moved Canada in front by a point, 3-2 with 7:15 remaining, but Taylor responded with a two of her own to give the USA back a one-point lead and Canada wouldn’t lead again.

A two-pointer from Smith brought Canada within a point, 10-9, with 4:07 remaining, but the USA quickly reeled off six straight points in the next minute, including four straight from Taylor, to extend their lead to seven points with 3:07 remaining.

Crozon snapped the USA run with a drive to the basket and Smith made a free throw to get Canada within five, 16-11, but the Canadians couldn’t slow Team USA as Cierra Burdick scored on a drive and then Hailey Van Lith got a layup to go to push the lead back to seven points. Crozon and Van Lith then traded two-pointers, but with Van Lith's two-point make getting the Americans to 20 points, a free throw from Burdick gave the USA the 21-13 victory with 58 seconds remaining on the clock.

Taylor finished first in scoring at the Quebec stop with 41 points at the event while Van Lith was tied with Crozon for second and third place with 32 points scored apiece.

Up next for the Canadians will be their home stop in Edmonton, Alberta which will take place July 5-6.
