SANTIAGO, Chile (June 30, 2025) – Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team dropped to 2–1 in group play at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2025 following a 74–65 loss to Brazil on Monday.
Despite leading by one heading into the fourth quarter, Canada was held to just five points in the final frame, as Brazil closed strong to seal the win. The game featured 12 lead changes and was Canada’s first loss of the tournament.
Kayla Alexander recorded her 12th career double-double with the senior national team, finishing with 10 points and 12 rebounds in 37 minutes of action.
Shy Day-Wilson paced Canada with 14 points, shooting 6-for-8 from the free throw line, and added five assists and three rebounds. She continues to lead the team in scoring at the tournament, averaging 13.7 points and 4.0 assists per game through three contests.
Canada’s bench remained a bright spot, contributing 21 points. Delaney Gibb added seven points in 10 minutes, while Merissah Russell and Tara Wallack chipped in with five and four points, respectively.
The team will have a rest day Tuesday before returning to action Wednesday against the Dominican Republic. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:40 p.m. ET / 2:40 p.m. PT, live on Courtside 1891.
