Canada Games Open Hall of Honour Nominations for 2015
Ottawa – The Canada Games Council (CGC) has announced that
nominations are now being accepted for the 2015 Canada Games Hall of Honour
inductions.
The goals of the Canada Games Hall of Honour are to recognize, honour and celebrate
exceptional Canada Games alumni who have distinguished themselves as athletes,
coaches, officials, volunteers or administrators and to celebrate individuals who have
made outstanding contributions to the development and advancement of the Canada
Games Property.
Nominees are eligible for induction into one of the two following Hall of Honour
categories:
Athletes: the athlete’s category recognizes past Canada Games athletes who have now
been retired for at least five (5) years and who have achieved significant success in
national and/or international competition. Nominees must also have demonstrated
support for the Canada Games and endorsed the property through promotional events,
community engagement or other meaningful activities.
Builders: nominees may also be inducted into the builder’s category, where the CGC
aims to recognize past coaches, officials, administrators, volunteers, sponsors or
members of the media who have made outstanding efforts and impact for over ten (10)
years. Nominees may be either active or inactive.
The Hall of Honour was implemented in 2007 as part of the 40th
Anniversary of the
Canada Games. A 40th
Anniversary Steering Committee comprised of Canada Games
alumni, Host Society representatives, and CGC staff collectively developed the Hall of
Honour eligibility requirements and categories.
The selection committee for the 2015 class will be comprised of members who have
extensive knowledge of the Canada Games property.

Centennial in 1967. The Games are proud of their contribution to Canada’s sport development
system in addition to their lasting legacy of sport facilities, community pride and national unity.
The organization of the Canada Games is made possible thanks to the contribution and support
of the Government of Canada, provincial/territory governments, the Host Societies, host
