Canada's 3x3 Women's National Team  fell to Spain 21-18, to finish the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series stop in Orléans, France with a semifinals exit.

Katherine Plouffe had 10 points and five rebounds in the loss, while Michelle Plouffe added seven points, seven highlights and three blocked shots.

In a game where Canada was plagued by foul trouble throughout, Spain managed to close out the victory at the free throw line. Spain shot 7-for-9 from the free throw line, compared to just 2-for-3 at the line from Canada.

The battle between Canada and Spain was tightly contested as the teams traded baskets and leads until a shot from Katherine Plouffe tied the game at 18 points apiece with 34 seconds remaining. After Michelle Plouffe blocked a shot, Vega Gimeno grabbed the offensive rebound for Spain. Michelle Plouffe was then called for a foul with nine seconds remaining, sending Vega Gimeno to the free throw line with the opportunity to close out the victory. Gimeno made both free throws, getting Spain to 21 points and sealing the win with nine seconds on the clock.

Canada came into Day 2 as the top seed in Group A.

Earlier in the day, Canada defeated China’s SC. Yuanda 20-18 in overtime, recording a come-from-behind victory thanks to a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double from Katherine Plouffe. Canada out-rebounded SC. Yuanda 25-15, including 9-3 on the offensive glass as they took advantage of their extra possessions and used a 6-0 run to turn a five-point deficit into a one-point lead with just under four minutes remaining. With the teams trading baskets, a bucket from Katherine Plouffe forced overtime. In the extra session, Katherine Plouffe scored on an offensive putback and then found a cutting Paige Crozon for a layup to seal the victory.

Canada will remain in France, as they begin the second stop of their FIBA 3x3 Women's Series season on Tuesday in Poiters. For the second-straight stop, Canada will take on Neftchi (Azerbaijan) and Italy in group stage action, before the knockout phase begins on Wednesday.
