ULAANBAATAR, MONGOLIA — Canada’s 3x3 Men’s National Team battled through two tightly contested games on Tuesday to open their 2025 FIBA 3x3 World Cup campaign, earning a 22-19 win over Austria before falling just short against China, 22-20.
In the opener against Austria, Grant Audu sealed the victory with a clutch two-pointer, finishing with 7 points and 3 rebounds. Jérôme Desrosiers also chipped in 7 points and 2 rebounds, while Aaron Rhooms added 6 points in a game that saw Canada withstand a late push from the Austrians to secure the win.
The second game of the day saw Canada go toe-to-toe with China in a high-intensity battle from start to finish. Desrosiers delivered a standout performance, pouring in 9 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. His deep two to tie the game at 20 looked to shift the momentum, but China responded on the next possession with the game-winner.
Canada now sits at 1-1 in group play and will look to bounce back on Thursday, June 26, when they face France (5:10 AM ET / 2:10 AM PT) and Puerto Rico (7:00 AM ET / 4:00 AM PT) to close out the round robin. Fans can catch all the action live on CBC Sports.
