The competition within the group will feature round-robin action, with Puerto Rico providing the most significant challenge. Currently ranked 10th globally, Puerto Rico last faced Canada during the quarterfinals of the FIBA Women's World Cup 2022, where Canada clinched the 79-60 victory.

Canada will be looking to capture their fourth AmeriCup title having first won in 1995 followed by back-to-back victories in 2015 — on home soil in Edmonton — and 2017. Canada has finished top four in each of the last seven editions of the competition, dating back to 2009.

The remaining teams in the tournament make up Group A, which includes Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, USA and Venezuela.

With USA having already secured a spot at next years Olympic Games in Paris, the best performing team outside of the USA will automatically advance to the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament in February, 2024.

In preparation for the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2023, Canada will participate in an exhibition game against Japan in Victoria, BC on June 2nd prior to their final training camp phase ahead of the tournament.

Stay tuned for more updates, including game dates, times, and broadcast information.
