TORONTO, Ont. (November 9, 2021) – Canada Basketball announced Tuesday the Women’s 3x3 National Team roster for the inaugural FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2021, which will take place at Bayfront Park in Miami, Florida from November 12-14.
Michelle Plouffe, Paige Crozon and Catherine Traer, who represent Canada in the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series, along with Kacie Bosch have been selected to represent Canada in the tournament.
The top-ranked 3x3 player in Canada, Plouffe is one of the original members of Canada’s 3x3 women’s team. Prior to making the jump to 3x3, the Edmonton, Alta. native appeared in 110 games over nine seasons with Canada, including the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. She was also a key member of Canada’s teams that captured gold medals at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, the 2015 FIBA Americas Women's Championship and the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup.
Crozon appeared in three FIBA 3x3 Women's Series stops in 2021, including leading Canada to a second place finish at the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Bucharest Final 2021. Ten years after making her 3x3 debut at the 2011 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championships, it’s only fitting that the Humboldt, Sask. native will represent Canada at the inaugural FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2021.
The third member of Canada’s FIBA 3x3 Women's Series squad, Traer will head to Miami coming off appearances in Montréal and Bucharest. In the inaugural season of the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series in 2019, the Chelsea, Que. native, along with Plouffe and Crozon, helped lead Canada to a pair of first place finishes to close out the season in Montréal and Edmonton. Traer also previously represented Canada at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
A newcomer to 3x3, Bosch will make her Team Canada debut in Miami this weekend. Bosch spent two seasons with the Gonzaga University Bulldogs before returning to finish her collegiate career with her hometown University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.
Canada, currently ranked 19th in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Federation Rankings, is the top seed for the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2021 headlines Pool A where they will face Puerto Rico (1:35 PM ET) and Uruguay (4:50 PM ET) on November 12th.
Following pool play, the medal round will begin on November 14th, with the top two teams from each of the four preliminary round groups competing in quarterfinal action.
