Charles, Plouffe Named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (July 9, 2024) - Jordan Charles and Michelle Plouffe have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for July 8-12.

Canada’s U17 Men’s National Team finished 8th at the FIBA U17 Men's Basketball World Cup last week, building on their 9th-place result in 2022. Jordan Charles was a standout player for Canada over the course of the week, leading in overall scoring at the tournament with 15.9 PPG. Charles also finished second in assists per game with 3.4. His best performance came during the classification games, where he scored 32 points, five assists, and three rebounds against Lithuania.

The FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series continued this week, this time on home soil. Canada’s 3x3 Women’s National Team brought their recently-announced Olympic team together in Edmonton to win the series stop at home. Michelle Plouffe, Katherine Plouffe, Paige Crozon, and Kacie Bosch were reunited to take home the dominant win. Michelle Plouffe led all scorers with seven points per game over a five-game stretch. Michelle Plouffe scored 14 points in their final against Dallas, securing the series win for Canada.
