TORONTO, Ont. (Jan. 22, 2024) - Zach Edey and Bridget Carleton have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Jan. 22-26.
The Purdue Boilermakers are on a three-game win streak, with Toronto product Zach Edey putting up 30 or more points in each game. Over the course of the week, Edey averaged 32 points, 16 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks with wins over Iowa and Indiana in the Big10. The Purdue centre is scoring efficiently, averaging a 63 percent field goal percentage.
Among the Canadian players who currently playing overseas, Bridget Carleton had a standout performance with Uni Gyor in Euroleague play. In a 91-80 win over KGHM BC Polkowice, the Chatham, ON native scored 41 points. Carleton had a monster scoreline, knocking down eight of her 10 three-pointers and going a perfect 11-11 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed six boards and four steals. With the regular season wrapping up soon, Carleton is averaging 18.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
