TORONTO, Ont. (March 26, 2024) - Zach Edey and Aaliyah Edwards have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for March 25-29.
As March Madness heads to the Sweet 16 this week, Canadians have been showing out for their teams. Purdue’s Zach Edey dominated the first two rounds, scoring 27 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks per game on 68 percent shooting from the field. Edey and Purdue face another Canadian on Friday in Andrew Nembhard and Gonzaga in the Sweet 16.
On the women’s side of the tournament, Aaliyah Edwards continues to win with UConn. Edwards is averaging a double-double in the tournament, putting up 20 points and ten rebounds in the first round. She followed it up with 11 points and 11 rebounds against Syracuse, setting up another Canadian clash with Emma Koabel and Duke in the Sweet 16. Edwards recently declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft on social media, which would make her the fifth active Canadian in the WNBA this upcoming season.
