TORONTO, Ont. (April 2, 2024) - Zach Edey and Aaliyah Edwards have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for April 1-5.
With March Madness heading into the Final Four this weekend, two Canadians are making history. On the men’s side, Zach Edey led Purdue back to the Final Four for the first time since 1980. To get there, Purdue defeated both Gonzaga and Tennessee over the course of the week. Edey scored 40 points and 16 rebounds in Purdue’s win over Tennessee, where he shot 13/21 from the field.
On the women’s side, UConn battled to defeat number one seeded USC in the Elite 8. Aaliyah Edwards, who recorded a double-double through the first two rounds, had a solid performance alongside her teammate Paige Bueckers to lead the team to victory. Edwards scored 24 points, six rebounds, and had an assist and a block each. She had a team-high 17 points in the second half as UConn moves to the Final Four in Cleveland.
