TORONTO, Ont. (July 31, 2024) - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kayla Alexander have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for July 29-August 2.

Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team are into the quarterfinals at the Olympic Games in their first appearance in 24 years. They are 2-0 in group play and will play their final game of the group stage against No.2 ranked Spain on Friday. Shai Gilgeous Alexander has proved himself to be one of the leaders of this team, averaging 18.5 points through their first two games, including a stellar performance against Greece to open his Olympic debut, putting up 21 points, five rebounds, seven assists and two blocks.

The Senior Women’s National Team started their Olympic week with a loss, but an encouraging week of exhibition games will look to propel them back into the win column. Kayla Alexander, unofficial co-captain of the team, led the team in exhibition, averaging 15.5 points per game. Alexander and the team will be in action again on Thursday against Australia to keep their chances of qualifying out of the group stage alive.
