Gilgeous-Alexander, Ejim named Players of the Week

TORONTO (Jan. 7, 2025) - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Yvonne Ejim have been named the Players of the Week for Dec. 30-Jan. 5.

Over the week, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged an impressive 34 points, five rebounds, and six assists, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 4-0 week, tying their franchise record for their longest win streak at 15 games. Their highlight win came against the defending champion Boston Celtics, where the product of Hamilton, Ont. put on another electrifying performance, registering 33 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. SGA last suited up for Canada this past August at the Paris 2024 Olympics, helping the Senior Men’s National Team to a fifth-place finish.

Ejim, a fifth-year forward for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, recorded 23 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in a commanding win against the Pepperdine Waves on Dec. 30. Just a few days later, the Calgary, Alta., native helped lead her team to another victory, tallying 19 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists against the Santa Clara Broncos to help the Bulldogs pick up their third-straight win. Her performance against Santa Clara was historic, as Ejim surpassed 2,000 career points, becoming only the fourth player in Gonzaga women’s basketball history to reach this milestone. The 2024 West Coast Conference Player of the Year most recently represented Canada at the Paris 2024 Olympics where she made her Olympic debut with the Senior Women’s National Team.
