Gilgeous-Alexander, Plouffe Named Toyota Canada Players of the Week
TORONTO, Ont. (August 20, 2024) - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Katherine Plouffe have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for August 19-23.
Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team wrapped up a historic Olympic run this month, making it to the quarterfinals and finishing fifth in their first appearance in 24 years. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for Canada, scoring 27 points in the quarterfinal game. Gilgeous-Alexander was also named to the tournament’s All-Star 5 Second Team.
It’s been a busy month for Canada’s 3x3 Women’s National Team. After falling just short of bronze at their first-ever Olympic appearance, the team was back on the road for the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series. Katherine Plouffe picked up right where she left off, averaging 6.2 points through five games and dominating the boards as Canada went 5-0 to capture the title in Saskatoon.
