TORONTO (July 5, 2023) – The highly anticipated GLOBL JAM FESTIVAL, presented by Flair Airlines, returns this weekend and will be bigger, better, and more exciting than ever. Get ready to experience a jam-packed weekend of free hoops, culture and community fun for the whole family.

Tipping off Friday, July 7th and running through to Sunday, July 9th, the GLOBL JAM FESTIVAL presented by Flair Airlines will transform Yonge-Dundas Square and unite basketball fans through the intersection of sport, art, and culture.  

Celebrating the game we all love, the three-day festival  will bring together basketball enthusiasts and sports fans of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels around the following events and activations:

Canada Quest 3x3 National Championships

Canada Basketball’s flagship 3x3 competition, the 3x3 Canada Quest, is an annual multi-tournament qualification tour comprising a series of provincial or regional qualifiers and a National Final.

This year, the 3x3 Canada Quest Finals runs from July 7-8, as 16 elite men’s and women’s teams who advanced from provincial qualifier tournaments across the country face off for the national championship title and a chance to win $12,000 in cash prizes.  To add to what’s at stake, the winner of the men’s tournament will also secure a berth in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2023 stop in Edmonton later this summer.

Community Vendor Market

Running all weekend long, the Community Vendor Market, supported by Wildeboer Dellelce LLP, will feature local small-business vendors coming together to provide an engaging and unique marketplace to raise awareness about their culture-of-basketball brands and market their goods and services to customers. Superfan & Friends Charity 3x3 Game

On Saturday, July 8 at 2:40 p.m. ET, the second annual Superfan & Friends Charity 3x3 Game will take centre court at Yonge-Dundas Square as Canada Basketball Global Community Ambassador and Toronto Raptors Superfan, Nav Bhatia once again hosts celebrities, artists, broadcasters and influencers with a love for basketball in an exciting and interactive game of 3x3 basketball. Fans will have the chance for a post-game meet and greet with Superfan and their favourite celebrity VIPs and players.

The teams will award up to $15,000 to two Canada Basketball Foundation’s UNIFIED Assist Program grant recipients to support their efforts in growing the game of basketball at the grassroots level.

Community Jam

New for 2023, Canada Basketball, in partnership with the City of Toronto and funding support from the Toronto Significant Event Investment Program (TSEIP), will host ‘Community Jam’ on Sunday, July 9th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Working with Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) through their Midnight Basketball League and League of HER Own, Community Jam will feature nine youth teams from across Toronto competing for the tournament title across the city in action.

Community Programming

Over on the community court, Canada Basketball UNIFIED Partners, Jr NBA Youth Basketball Host Organizations from across the GTA, and other local basketball groups will be able to participate in basketball skills and drills sessions throughout the FESTIVAL weekend. Join Canada Basketball’s UNIFIED Partners, such as You Can Play, Lay-Up Youth Basketball, Buckets and Borders and more, for your chance to bring their game to the community court and also take advantage of open-court time.

In between all the action, grab a bite to eat at one of our on-site community food trucks or stop by Lazeez Shawarma’s booth to taste some of their newest menu items and snacks.

GLOBL JAM FIVES, the world-class international basketball showcase, returns to Toronto this summer from July 12-16. The tournament features women’s and men’s Under-23 teams from around the world taking to the court at Toronto’s Mattamy Athletic Centre and broadcast nationally across Sportsnet platforms.
