TORONTO (June 16, 2025) - Isaiah Hamilton and Aaliyah Edwards have been named the Players of the Week for June 2 - 8.
Hamilton delivered a breakout performance at the FIBA U16 AmeriCup, finishing as the tournament’s second-leading scorer and helping Canada secure a spot at the upcoming U17 Men’s Basketball World Cup. The Oakville, Ont. native made headlines early with a between-the-legs dunk in Canada’s opening win over Venezuela, before dropping a tournament-high 32 points against Brazil in group play. While he was sidelined for the gold medal game, Hamilton was named to the FIBA U16 Men's AmeriCup All-Star First Team.
Edwards continues to make her mark in the WNBA, posting 13 points and seven rebounds in the Washington Mystics’ 104–67 win over the Connecticut Sun. The Kingston, Ont. native and sixth overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft has quickly become a key piece for the Mystics on both ends of the floor. Washington is set to take on the Atlanta Dream and Chicago Sky in the week ahead. Edwards last represented Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
