VANCOUVER (March. 17, 2025) – The Saskatchewan Huskies and Victoria Vikes are leaving the 2025 INDOCHINO U SPORTS Final 8s as national champions.

The Huskies captured their third Bronze Baby in program history with a commanding 85-66 win over the Carleton Ravens in Sunday night’s women’s championship, while the Vikes stormed past the Calgary Dinos 82-53 to claim their ninth W.P. McGee Trophy—and first since 1997—in the men’s final.

For Saskatchewan, it was a night of redemption. A year after falling to Carleton in the title game, the Huskies flipped the script behind a spectacular performance from Gage Grassick. The tournament MVP torched the Ravens for 35 points, draining seven three-pointers while adding seven assists and three steals. Saskatchewan’s offense was in rhythm from the opening tip, shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from beyond the arc, while suffocating Carleton’s usually efficient attack.

Andrea Dodig chipped in 12-points, seven rebounds and two blocks for Saskatchewan, while Tea DeMong added 13-points. The Huskies set the tone early, outscoring Carleton 24-16 in the first quarter and never letting the defending champions find their footing. The loss ended the Ravens’ bid for a three-peat and marked their first national silver medal.

On the men’s side, the Vikes left no doubt in their return to the summit of Canadian university basketball. After a stunning loss to Calgary in the Canada West semifinals two weeks earlier, Victoria exacted its revenge in dominant fashion.

The Vikes blitzed the Dinos out of the gate, building an 18-6 first-quarter lead – Calgary, the No. 2 seed, never recovered. Victoria shot 45.6 percent from the field while holding the Dinos to just 27.3 percent, including a frigid 20.7 percent from three-point range.

Renoldo Robinson led the charge with 24 points, attacking the rim with authority and knocking down mid-range jumpers. Geoffrey James added 17 points and five rebounds, while tournament MVP Sam Maillet put together a well-rounded performance with nine points, six rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

Victoria’s defense was the difference-maker, forcing turnovers and limiting second-chance opportunities while keeping Calgary at arm’s length throughout the game. The win sealed a 30-1 season for the Vikes and delivered their first national title in nearly three decades.

Earlier in the day, the Ottawa Gee-Gees swept the bronze-medal games, with the women defeating host UBC and the men dispatching UPEI.
