TORONTO, Ont. (July 24, 2023) - Kadre Gray and Toby Fournier have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for July 17-24.
Gray had a pair of big games with the Ottawa BlackJacks of the CEBL, averaging more than 19 points per game, five rebounds and seven assists during the week. Gray, who is the Laurentian Voyageurs all-time leading scorer, shot 57 per cent from the field — including 6/11 from beyond-the-arc. Gary last suited up for Canada in Window 6 of the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup Qualifiers this winter, before previously starring for the Senior Men’s National Team at the FIBA Men’s AmeriCup last September.
Fournier starred on the world stage, earning All-Star Five honours at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Madrid, Spain. The Toronto product averaged 16.1 points and a tournament-leading 13.7 rebounds per game in seven games, becoming Fournier only the third Canadian to be named to the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup All-Star Five since 2009. Fournier played a pivotal role in helping Canada win bronze — the country’s second-ever medal in the tournament’s history and first since 2017.
