TORONTO, Ont. (Oct. 11, 2023) - Kaza Kajami-Keane and Keishana Washington have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Oct. 2-8.
Kajami-Keane put up back-to-back strong outings for BV Chemnitz 99 in a pair of wins in the Basketball Bundesliga (Germany). The Carleton Ravens alumnus recorded 23-point and 17-point performances, including a double-double in the team’s win over Brose Baskets Bamberg last Monday night in which he notched 10 assists. The Ajax, Ont. product helped Canada reach the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023, suiting up for the Senior Men’s National Team in Qualifiers.
In her first-career professional game, Washington notched 16 points for Torun, who star in Poland’s BLK Women’s League season-opener. The Drexel Dragons alumna knocked down six of her 12 shots from the field, to go along with one three-pointer, five assists and two rebounds. Washington, who is a product of Pickering, Ont. starred for Canada on numerous times this past summer. She won silver with Canada’s U23 Women’s National Team at GLOBL JAM in Toronto, before going on to suit up for Canada’s 3x3 U23 Women’s National Team at the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League Americas in Chile, then in Debrecen, Hungary at the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series.
