Koby McEwen and Cassandre Prosper are our Canada Basketball Toyota Canada Players of the Week for July 11 – July 17.
McEwen helped lead the Hamilton Honey Badgers to a 2-1 record last week in the Canada Elite Basketball League (CEBL) as the squad currently sits atop the standings with a 13-4 record. The Toronto native averaged 21.7 points, three rebounds, and two assists across all three games, including a season-high 27 points against the Scarborough Shooting Stars. A 6’4” shooting guard, McEwen represented Canada at the FIBA U16 Americas in 2013, and FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup the following year averaging 7.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game across both events.
Representing Canada at the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 in Debrecen, Hungary, Prosper was named to the all-star tournament five team averaging 14 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.6 steals, and three blocks per game helping lead Canada to a fourth-place finish. The 6’2” forward from Rosemere, Que. currently attends Capital Courts Academy and previously represented Team Canada at the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas 2021 and attended the NBA Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Camp in San Luis Potosi, Mexico in May, being named MVP among 64 women in the camp.
