MONTRÉAL, Que. (July 15, 2025) – NBA Champion and Montréal-Nord native Luguentz Dort is proud to announce that the documentary Montréal-Nord: A Place to Dream, a project he championed, has been officially selected for the 2025 Summer League Film Festival in Las Vegas.
The film will screen as part of the festival's programming from July 17 to 19, 2025, at the Strip View Pavilion at the Thomas & Mack Center. Directed by Riley Sisco and Brett Anderson, and produced by Canada Basketball, in collaboration with Buckets & Borders, the documentary shines a powerful and uplifting light on the Montréal-Nord community, a neighbourhood often overlooked, but rich in culture, resilience, and ambition.
Through the lens of basketball, A Place to Dream tells the story of Luguentz Dort, born to Haitian parents, who immigrated toCanada and found a home in Montréal-Nord. He carved his own path, one built by the strength of his community. Now an Olympian and a proud member of Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team, Dort stands as a symbol of pride, perseverance, and the transformative power of sport.

The selection at the inaugural Summer LeagueFilm Festival is a major milestone for the film, offering global visibility in front of fans, athletes, and industry leaders attending the NBA’s SummerLeague in Las Vegas.

This announcement follows an incredible year for Dort. Coming off of his first OlympicGames, he most recently made history, winning an NBA Championship with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the franchise's first. His continued dedication to his roots is evident in his work off the court, using his platform like his foundation Maizon Dort, to spotlight community projects and youth initiatives like this one.
