TORONTO (Apr. 7, 2025) - Koby McEwen and Deniya Prawl have been named the Players of the Week for Mar. 31- Apr. 6.
McEwen, a recent signee to the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association wasted no time in making noise, dropping 35 points on an impressive 11-of-13 shooting, along with 10 assists and five rebounds. The product of Toronto, Ont. is coming off a standout summer in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), where he suited up for the Vancouver Bandits and was named the 2024 Canadian Player of the Year. McEwen recently signed with the Brampton Honey Badgers for the upcoming CEBL season – a team he previously played for in 2022, helping them capture the championship. McEwen last represented Canada at the third FIBA AmeriCup qualifying window in February, where he helped the Senior Men’s National team secure their spot in this summer’s tournament.
Prawl continues to prove her elite talent on every stage. The Toronto, Ont. native, ranked #14 by ESPN, put up 14 points and six rebounds for IMG Academy in a thrilling overtime win over Montverde Academy to secure the Chipotle Nationals Champion title. The championship comes after a milestone few months for Prawl; she was recently chosen to represent the country at the 2025 Nike Hoop Summit on April 12, and earlier this year, was named to the McDonald’s All-American Girls East team. Prawl last represented Canada at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup, where she averaged 11.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, helping the U17 Women’s National Team to a silver finish. She has committed to play for the University of Tennessee Lady Vols program for the 2025-26 NCAA season.
