Mfiondu Kabengele, Yvonne Ejim Named Toyota Canada Players of the Week
TORONTO, Ont. (Nov. 26,2024) – Mfiondu Kabengele and Yvonne Ejim have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for the week of November 18-24.
This past Sunday, the Gonzaga Bulldogs faced off against the New Mexico Lobos and won, 81-68. Ejim had a dominant performance, leading the Bulldogs with 26 points, 17 rebounds and eight assists. The Calgary native last suited up for Canada during the Paris 2024 Olympics in August with the Senior Women’s National team.
The Senior Men’s National Team competed in the second window of the FIBA Men’s AmeriCup qualifiers 2025 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, this past weekend, facing off against Mexico and Dominican Republic. Kabengele scored 17 points, grabbing seven rebounds against the Dominican Republic, following it up with an impressive 15 point, 12 rebound performance against Mexico, shooting 6-of-8 from the field. This marked Kabengele’s FIBA debut representing the Senior Men’s National Team.
