Miah Marie-langlois Queen of Comedy

Anyone who’s ever been around Canada Basketball’s Senior Women’s National Team knows this group loves to laugh.

“We all have a sort of dry sense of humour,” Shona Thorburn says. “We like to make fun of each other a lot.”

So who most cracks up their teammates?

As the question was put to the SWNT vets, three contenders emerged the title of Canada’s Top Court Comic.

“Tamara (Tatham) is very funny to me, just because of her personality,” Miranda Ayim says.

Tatham, for her part, says Thorburn is the funny one.

“She’s very good at reaching out to everybody with her sense of humour, so she gets the young ones to open up and gets the vets laughing.”

The name that comes up the most, however?

That would be point guard/class clown Miah Marie-Langlois.

“She’s very mysterious,” says Kim Gaucher. “Some of her comments are way out of left field.”

“She does some pretty random things,” Michelle Plouffe says.

“She’s a jokester,” says Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe. “I don’t think she means to be, but it’s just the way she is.”
