Miller, Asare named Players of the Week

TORONTO (Jan. 14, 2025) - Emanuel Miller and Mary-Anna Asare have been named the Players of the Week for Jan. 6-12.

Asare was instrumental in a 57-50 victory for the VCU Rams over the Saint Joseph’s Hawks. The Pickering, Ont. product put up 26 points on 10-20 shooting, to go along with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. This marks another standout performance from Asare, as just a week prior, she scored a career-high 37 points, the second-most points scored in VCU’s women’s basketball program history. The guard from Pickering, Ont. last played for Canada during the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in 2023, where the team captured the bronze medal.

Miller, who was inked to a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls this past month, continues to find success in the G League. The Scarborough, Ont. product averaged 18 points and eight rebounds over two games with the Windy City Bulls this past week. Unselected in the 2024 NBA Draft, Miller was picked up by the Texas Legends of the G League, where he averaged 18.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 16 games, leading him to sign in Chicago.  Prior to this, Miller spent three seasons with the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs, members of the Big 12 conference, where he surpassed 1,000 career points and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Conference Second Team. Miller last represented Canada at GLOBL JAM in 2022, where he starred for the U23 Men’s National Team in Toronto.
